Busy Times

Every time I’ve sat down to write here lately, I apologize for my absence, make excuses why I haven’t been around, and feel deeply guilty for my lack of consistency. This blog isn’t my job and I don’t do it to make money, I do it because I love to share food and experiences with other people. But lately, I just haven’t had the time, and I think I need to stop apologizing for that, and start just being okay with it. We all go through busy times, times when we can’t catch up with life’s to-do list, no matter how much we jam pack our schedules, and how much sleep we sacrifice to do it. So I think it’s time for a break.

I miss blogging a lot, but there are other more important things taking up my time right now, and to be kind to myself I think I’m going to continue to focus on those. I have a couple of impending blog posts in the works that I’d like to get to you ASAP, but beyond that things might be a bit quiet around here until after our wedding in early fall.

I rarely share non-food related stuff with you, but since I’ve been so quiet lately it seems like a good idea to show you why. Wedding preparations, bridal events, best friends baby preparations, house hunting, working (though wish I could find a way to cut that part out!) and trying to manage some semblence of a social life just takes so much TIME! And I also like to get some sleep every now and then, so I don’t have to rely on copious amounts of caffeine to get through the days. It’s times like these that I just don’t get how people have kids – I have an incredible amount of respect for all you parents out there!

Anyway, enough rambling on… let’s get to some quick snapshots shall we?

Lamb Pro Am

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to partake in the Lamb Pro Am event but on my BostonChefs. It was freezing cold and my chef and I ran out of food, but I had a BLAST and loved getting compliments on my food from total strangers! Not something I do every day, that’s for sure.

Strawberry Cupcakes

Cupcakes. You didn’t think that just because I’ve been quiet here means I haven’t been baking right? Because of course I have been! Just haven’t been taking the time to photograph and write about it. These cupcakes were a test run for the cupcakes I’m making for my BFF’s baby shower in a just over a week!

Bridesmaid Dresses

My only local bridesmaid and I went bridesmaid dress shopping a few weekends ago, and she tried on TONS of stuff. We had a lot of fun, and are finally getting down to deciding on dresses!

Brunch at Bokx

Even though we’ve spent most of the last 2 months’ worth of weekends house hunting, we’ve snuck in a few meals out here and there. This is Kevin stuffing his face at Bokx 109, where we had a very delicious brunch courtesy of Boston Brunchers. That post is definitely coming soon!

Wedding shoes

Wedding Shoe Shopping. I had originally bought purple (my favorite color) heels for the wedding, but after giving it some thought, I decided I needed to buy wedges. We’re getting married in a grassy field, and I don’t really want my feet to be sinking into the grass as we read our vows!

House hunting

I have already mentioned this numerous times, but we have spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for a place to live. The market right now is NOT buyer friendly, and we are having a heck of a time finding a place on budget that doesn’t get pulled out from under us. Fingers crossed our luck changes ASAP, because we are being kicked out of our current place in exactly 2 months!

Baby shopping

Baby Browsing. My best friend since I was about 6 years old is about to have a baby, so I have been doing lots of baby browsing, and some baby accessories buying. Why are ALL baby things so tempting to buy?! Maybe because everything for a little baby girl is so stinking adorable.

Not pictured: engagement photo shoot, wedding band shopping, general wedding planning, gardening, moving preparations, l0ng hours at the office, trees falling on my car, flat tires on my car, apartment cleaning for showings, traveling, and many other tiny little tasks.

Still trying to catch up on that to-do list, and the many hours of sleep I seem to be missing every week. Hoping we’ll catch a break soon, but until then, Happy Summer!! I hope you get out there and enjoy it, and soak up some extra sun for me since who knows when I’ll have the time. I’ll be back!

It happens! Since blogging is something we do because we love it that love won’t translate if we’re forced to post just to have a regular post. Good for you for taking some time off!

We all need a break sometimes, and I know you’ll enjoy yours. Happy summer!
