Brown Butter Toffee Chip Cookies with Chocolate Centers

When we had that big snow storm a couple of weekends ago, my parents drove out to Boston to watch the Patriots game and take a warm shower at out apartment, since their power was out. It turned into a fun night – we ordered pizzas and I made these cookies, and we enjoyed a little bit of extra time together. I had intended to make something yummy for Kevin and I when we got home that afternoon anyway, but knowing my family would be coming over too sweetened the deal, and I knew I had to find something really tasty to make. Chocolate Chip Coconut Macaroons – SRC

This month for the Secret Recipe Club, I was assigned Debbie Does Dinner… Healhy and Low Calorie. She has some great recipes for healthy and low cal dinners, but we all know that healthy and low cal aren’t really in my dictionary… so I went for her desserts. Lucky for me (thanks Debbie!), she also has an extensive list of luscious desserts and Amish bread recipes that I was able to pick from. It was a tough decision, but since I was pressed for time this week I went with her Coconut Macaroons. Believe it or not – I’ve never made them before! So simple, so delicious, yet it’s just never been a recipe I’ve thought to try. Last week Kevin got a chocolate chip macaroon from Flour Bakery, and so I felt inspired to give them a try. (more…)

Secret Recipe Club: Flourless Peanut Butter Thumbprint Cookies

A few months back I contacted Amanda about joining the Secret Recipe Club, and this is my first official month as a member. I have to say, I’m pretty excited! The group is comprised of many talented bloggers, looking to share their recipes and try the recipes of others. Each month, every member is assigned another member’s blog to work off of. We are each instructed to pick one recipe from our assigned blog to cook/bake and blog about, and then we all reveal our creations on the same day. It’s a fun way to expose people to blogs they’ve never read, and also a great way to promote your own blog. (more…)

Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies – Chunky Lola’s

A couple of weekends ago I ducked out of work early on Friday and sped home for a weekend full of celebrating my Grandma’s 80th birthday. I am fortunate enough to still have one set of grandparents gracing my life, and so my Grandma turning 80 was no small event! We had family coming up from the south, and lots of friends and neighbors collected through the years coming to celebrate, so I wanted to be sure I didn’t miss any of the action, and none of the guests were missing sweets! Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies by Test Kitchen

I don’t really remember when I fell in love with baking, but it’s been a large part of me for as long as I can remember. From an early age, I watched my uncle caringly whip up Julia Child’s Decadent Chocolate Mousse for Christmas every year; I helped my grandma make her trademark Tollhouse cookies (she’s only ever made that one recipe on the back of the bag), and watched with close attention as my mother put together a variety of desserts whenever the occasion arose. Once I was old enough to understand the fundamentals of baking chemistry myself, I started making cookies, and Chocolate Chip Cookies were my first, and always my favorite. (more…)
